[Challenge] 2025. June : Let's draw Fishing
PENUP Main banner

Fishing refers to the act of catching fish.

People enjoy freshwater fishing in ponds, rivers, or valleys, or they may enjoy sea fishing at the beach, on a breakwater, or from a boat.

Depending on the fish, they use insects or artificial lures as bait, and they catch fish by listening for bells, watching floats, or feeling the bite with their hands.

People make fishing rods from bamboo or synthetic materials, and they also fish using tools like casting nets and spears.

Our second challenge this June is about ‘Fishing’, which has supported humanity throughout history.

Humans have been fishing since ancient times.

There is evidence of fishing even in the Paleolithic era, and in Greek and Roman times, people used fishing as a means of philosophical reflection.

During the Middle Ages, fishing became more widespread due to fasting days, and in modern times, books about fishing were published, fishing rods improved, and fishing began to attract attention as a sport.

Today, people hold fishing competitions, and fishing is evolving into a form of tourism or a way to experience nature.

There are also many unique and interesting fishing methods.

Some people catch fish using trained cormorants, while others use bright lights to attract and catch nocturnal fish like squid.

There are also methods where people attach fishing lines to kites, and some even use electric eels or drones for fishing.

For this challenge, you might have fun drawing a picture of a unique fishing method you can imagine.

Animals also have their own ways of fishing.

Dolphins herd fish into shallow waters to hunt them, and clever birds use pieces of bread or insects as bait to catch fish.

Alligator snapping turtles use their worm-like tongues to lure in prey, and jaguars use their tails to make the sound of fruit dropping into water to fish.

What kind of fishing scene comes to your mind right now?

From fishing in beautiful landscapes to unique tools or even animals fishing, try taking on our challenge this month by capturing a variety of interesting fishing scenes.
