When we think of a street, all of us may come up with different ideas as to what and how a street looks like.
Some of us might imagine a city street with tall buildings and people, while others may think of a country road where nostalgia, memories, and nature all jumble together to create a cozy feeling.
You could think of a street full of various stores running along a beach and the ocean, or a lively market street selling all sorts of different foods and products.
There are busy streets around a train station or bus stop, or calm and quiet streets running through a sleepy residential neighborhood with houses and a playground where children can run around.
For the second challenge this November, we’d like you to paint something about a ‘Street’, which is used by different people to get to and from different places.
Streets are created for a wide variety of reasons.
Some streets are built to facilitate the movement of people and vehicles, and to keep the traffic environment safe.
Others are created to promote commerce, which then becomes a foundation for new tourism attractions and a stronger economy.
More recently, we have streets created for environmental reasons, including better access to more green areas, or to preserve places with high historical or artistic value.
Wherever you go, every street culture has its unique appeal.
Now, street culture is a melting pot of art and lifestyle, born in the streets and public spaces of the city.
It results in a diverse range of interactions and communication in the form of casual fashion, graffiti with hidden messages behind them, street art, street dance, performances, and busking.
So, for this challenge, one thing you could do is to paint different street cultures you can find around you.
Wherever you look around the world, you’ll see streets that stand out in their own way.
Broadway in the US grew famous by hosting shows linked to the fashion industry, then more recently, it came to be known for world-class musicals and concerts.
Montmartre in France, said to have begun developing during the Renaissance and later becoming the center of bohemian culture, is now known as a haven for various artists.
