→Go watch now a video of 'October HOF @AT1'
Although most people remember Wassily Kandinsky for his abstract lines and shapes, he did paint plenty of abstract landscapes as well.
He wanted to reinterpret the way nature appears to people and convey emotions and the ambiance of places using abstract shapes and colors.
The abstract landscapes in Kandinsky’s works can make us feel like we’re traveling back and forth between reality and fantasy, and these landscapes continue to inspire numerous people with new interpretations added to old works to this very day.
@AT1, whom we inducted into our Hall of Fame in October, also shares various stories with works capturing abstract expressions.
The artist’s feed, as you would expect, is full of abstract images and objects.
Emotions and unique ideas are turned into delicate lines and highlighted with beautiful colors.
The artist also paints pictures laden with messages on various topics and personal interpretations of things seen or felt.
We can't wait to ask @AT1 about artworks through an interview.
Let’s dive into our conversation with @AT1.
Q1. @PENUP
Hello, @AT1!
On behalf of everyone at the PENUP team, We’d like to congratulate you on being inducted into our Hall of Fame in October 2024.
Please briefly introduce yourself and tell us your thoughts on selection.
A1. @AT1
Hello, I'm Asma, some call me Asthma, for simplicity sake I go by the username AT1.
I don't want take the breaths away by listing my accomplishments.
So I'll keep it short: I'm an Aesthete & an Art Hobbyist.
Thank you for selecting me to be among the hall of famers.
I owe it to the song "Hall of fame "which I have been listening to a lot lately: “... Standing in the Hall of Fame, And the world's gonna know your name...”
But I hope they pronounce it right!
Q2. @PENUP
You first post dates back to December 2023.
How did you find out about PENUP, and what inspired you to share your work on PENUP?
A2. @AT1
Well, I got a new mobile with this amazing app named PENUP.
I'm a risk-taker & a curious cat.
So I opened it up, posted my first drawing without much thought.
And that's how my PENUP journey began.
Q3. @PENUP
Your paintings are always full of beautiful colors and expressions.
What kind of devices and apps do you use when you’re drawing and painting?
A3. @AT1
Device - S23 Ultra.
Apps - PENUP, Ibis paint X, Infinite Painter
Q4. @PENUP
You seem to enjoy painting about a wide variety of subjects with your own twist that makes them feel very mysterious.
What inspired you to draw and paint in the beginning?
A4. @AT1
My initial canvas dates back to my childhood, it was a pretty huge; Walls.
I can say I've been creatively expressing myself ever since then.
My Inspiration for abstracts would be the colorful energies in my surroundings, whether in an object, a person, or some intangible feelings.
I like painting my blank canvas with colors.
It's a creative exercise that keeps my brain alive (since my left cerebral hemisphere is in dormancy).
I read it somewhere that you learn a lot about yourself through art.
I guess I'm trying to do the same.
Q5. @PENUP
I was very impressed by your abstracts that capture nature and landscapes.
What’s the inspiration behind these abstract paintings?
A5. @AT1
Nature is the best art & it provides with the endless opportunity to think.
I like to find beauty in everything.
I focus on the little things that people often neglect & try my best to immortalize it through my art.
Though not always impressive, but I try my best to capture it & I'm still learning, rephrasing, forever Learning!
Q6. @PENUP
Your work also features people and characters in all of these different shapes and sizes.
Is there a reason you like to paint people, and what kind of people do you like to paint?
A6. @AT1
I feel like a painting is empty without a person.
Anyone with an attractive personality would definitely be my muse.
So watch out!
Q7. @PENUP
In some of your paintings, we can’t see the faces of the people in them.
Is this deliberate, and why did you choose not to reveal their faces?
Do these “faceless” characters mean anything in particular?
A7. @AT1
Sometimes, the emotions are too complex to be drawn.
Sometimes, you're a little too empty to draw them.
And sometimes, you want the spectators to look at the whole story instead of focusing on their faces.
The beauty of doing faceless art is that every spectator will imagine a facial expression for that being based on their perception, which I think is an amazing way to engage with people.
Q8. @PENUP
A few of your unique ideas were also very impressive.
Where do you find the inspiration for these new ideas?
A8. @AT1
My sources of inspiration are emotions, thoughts, experiences & memories.
Anything that moves me or grabs my attention and sometimes it's just for awareness.
I believe that if anyone has a talent or skill they should use it to help someone or create awareness.
As my parents always quote: "Don't let your talents go wasted."
That being said, I'm a firm believer of working on a micro level to create positive changes.
And that everyone has an ability to create something & learn.
Just take the leap!
Just a tip – I have to agree some unique ideas comes at odd places- Restroom!
Q9. @PENUP
We also found some coloring pieces on your feed.
What type of coloring designs do you like to choose when you want to do some coloring?
And if there’s a subject you’d like to work with in the future, what would you like to paint?
A9. @AT1
I like simple coloring designs related to nature & fashion.
I'm also interested in cartography so my future subject will be maps.
Q10. @PENUP
Last question.
Please let us know if there is anything you would like to see improved while using PENUP, or if there is anything you would like to say.
A10. @AT1
If we could have an option of posting our animations, it would be great.
PENUP is a great platform to learn & interact with amazingly talented artist.
I'm happy to be a part of it.
Just want to conclude my interview with; "Remember to create for the joy of it and savor every moment of the creative process.
Keep inspiring & supporting one another.
Be true to yourself.
Spread love, not hate.
Paint the visions of your mind, let your imagination run wild & remember there's no age limit to learning art.
Embrace the journey & stay curious."
How was the interview with @AT1?
Kandinsky was inspired by intense colors and he tried to convey emotions using color.
The artist also expressed various emotions by blending beautiful colors into abstract expressions.
What about you?
Wouldn’t you like to try your hand at expressing various subjects using different colors?
You’ll have fun painting about nature, people, or animals, all interpreted through your own experiences and emotions.
We’d love to see different emotions expressed through different colors at PENUP.
Thank you.
