Ghosts are said to be the spirits of the dead that haunt our world.
Apparently, some look like a thin quilt floating through the air, others - people say - look like real people or animals.
And, of course, you get those scary monsters from time to time.
They can be shapeless, vague, bizarre, or burning like a fireball.
Ghosts also have various powers - they might pass through walls, suddenly appear then disappear, or move objects out of nowhere.
Our second challenge in October is about scary ‘Ghost’.
Now, what people think of when they hear ‘ghost’ can be different depending on where you’re from.
In Asia, ghosts are considered the spirits of people’s ancestors.
Ghosts are often symbols of family, tradition, and the cycle of life and death.
In the West, ghosts are often symbols of fear or a threat.
They can also be a sign of revenge, warning, fear of an uncertain future, or death.
Despite meaning different things, ghosts are always seen as blurry figures that come dressed in mostly old or traditional clothes.
As for ghost stories, you’ll find plenty if you look around the world.
One example is the Flying Dutchman.
The Flying Dutchman is a notorious and legendary ship cursed to sail the seas until the end of time.
Another great example is Annabelle, a haunted doll that used to be at a museum.
It’s a true story with a string of events that helped popularize the genre of horror films featuring a demon doll or puppet.
If you know of a ghost or a story about a ghost, it might be a great idea to paint about your ghost.
There are festivals involving ghosts all over the world.
Most famous of them all would be Halloween, known for pumpkins, magic, and all sorts of different costumes.
There’s also the Day of the Dead in Mexico, which is when dead ghosts come down from the sky.
Other countries have their own traditions and customs commemorating their ghosts and telling their stories.
