British painter, John Constable is a renowned figure of Romanticism.

He observed nature closely, and elaborately depicted changes he saw using light and color.

His work is both realistic in its descriptions and colorful in appearance, enough to convey the various emotions he saw and felt while facing nature.

@Asif_Art, who was inducted into our Hall of Fame in August, also captures beautiful landscapes filled with his love for nature.

If you go and look at his feed, you’ll immediately notice that it’s full of beautiful landscapes.

The artist uses different landscapes to capture the changes and beauty he sees in nature.

At the same time, he gives people so much inspiration with scenes and emotions he comes across every day through his paintings that often feature people, animals, and abstract themes.

We can't wait to ask @Asif_Art about artworks through an interview.

Now, let us begin our interview with the artist.

Q1. @PENUP

Hello, @Asif_Art!

On behalf of everyone at the PENUP team, We’d like to congratulate you on being inducted into our Hall of Fame in August 2024.

Please briefly introduce yourself and tell us your thoughts on selection.

A1. @Asif_Art

Hello, thank you for giving me this opportunity, it feels great to be selected for the Hall of Fame on such a large platform.

I thank everyone at PENUP Team and the community for supporting numerous creators and their artworks.

Thank you for providing such a wonderful platform to showcase our works and to see other great creators showcase theirs as well.

My name is Asif Nawaz, and I am from Kochi, Kerala, India.

I work as a Manager In Charge for VISA Section Field, I have a lovely family, Including my wife and a son, with whom I share my happiness.

I started my passion in artwork at a very young age by the guidance of my father, who was also passionate about art.

Drawing runs in my veins.

I began with pencils and later expanded to other formats, I was always fascinated by the concept of digital art, although there was a learning curve to get used to this, I kept on pushing my limit to ensure that I can do my best.

As of now I am happy.

Receiving the Hall of Fame title feels special and will always remain as one of my greatest achievements.

Q2. @PENUP

You started posting your work in December 2022.

How did you find out about PENUP, and what inspired you to share your work on PENUP?

A2. @Asif_Art

When I first started digital art, I used a basic mouse with Photoshop but it felt so unnatural.

Then, I got a one by Wacom drawing pad.

However, I was used to looking at what I was drawing at the tip of my pencil or pen, so using a tablet without a screen felt odd, then I thought of getting myself a proper drawing tablet but I assumed it would feel odd since I was used to drawing on a physical paper/canvas, I was hesitant at first, could I, do it?

Will it be easy to draw across the glass screen?

I have seen other creators drawing fabulous artworks, I have always felt fascinated by the magical images they managed to produce.

And years later back in 2022 I purchased my Samsung Galaxy Tab S6 Lite, that was when I got a proper introduction of PENUP, I have tried few other drawing apps within this tablet, yet somehow it felt awkward for me, yet I kept on trying and finally finalized on PENUP, seeing the amazing community and support it had.

I realized I had a lot to learn within the field of digital art, I was aware that PENUP had limitations back when I started, it only had a set of brush selections, yet many creators showcased their fabulous works helped me to challenge myself to learn and do my best using what was provided.

For me it was a challenge and thrilling at the same time.

Adding onto that the way the community members supported each other was something that motivated me to continue here.

And seeing other creators publish their work motivated me to post mine and see how it’ll perform on each attempt.

I believe that I got this wonderful opportunity to receive the Hall of Fame title due to my true love and fascination towards PENUP.

Q3. @PENUP

You seem to enjoy painting delicate landscapes.

What kind of devices and apps do you use when you’re drawing?

A3. @Asif_Art

I mainly use my primary device which is a Samsung Galaxy S6 Lite Tablet and sometimes I switch onto my mobile to draw which is the Samsung Note 10+.

I use PENUP mainly and additionally I also use Infinity, SketchBook & ArtRage as each apps lets me explore new horizons.

Q4. @PENUP

Your feed features a variety of subjects, including landscapes, people, and animals.

What inspired you to draw and paint in the beginning?

A4. @Asif_Art

I am a dreamer and I wish to express my dreams and vision through my works.

I started my initial works when I was young under the guidance of my father.

You could say that it’s a hereditary talent, and I’m glad I’ve been able to maintain it over the years across various mediums.

Switching to digital painting has opened up new horizons for me.

Q5. @PENUP

We see landscapes from a number of different places in your paintings.

Is there a reason you mostly paint landscapes, and what kind of scenery do you like to draw?

A5. @Asif_Art

I enjoy peace and calmness; hence I prefer to draw places that reflect such vibe, I tend to add my own flair to my drawings by making it vibrant with colors such as greens and blues.

I prefer to draw mountains, valleys, rivers and forests as they are beautiful.

Q6. @PENUP

Your landscapes not only look so beautiful, but they also look like real places we can find somewhere.

Do you paint places you’ve been there personally?

And do you remember a particular place you’ve visited before and simply cannot forget?

A6. @Asif_Art

There are places that I have seen in real life.

Perhaps from my past memories or dreams.

Within my gallery I have tried to portray my versions of the places I have visited such as various waterfalls, beaches, Skies, towns and villages.

One of the locations that I cannot forget will be Athirapilly Waterfall, Located in Kerala.

Which I have drawn in my own way.

Q7. @PENUP

You have portraits of people on your timeline as well.

We’re curious as to why these characters become a part of your paintings.

Who typically makes it onto your artwork?

A7. @Asif_Art

I enjoy fashion as a whole, including clothes and jewelry.

Adding to that is the challenge of drawing faces and emotions, which I incorporate into my portraits to improve each time.

I create fictional characters and draw various faces with my own styling to express more through my drawings.

PENUP Hall of Fame

Q8. @PENUP

And of course, we need to talk about all the animals you paint.

Why do you enjoy painting animals, and what makes animals feel so charming to you?

A8. @Asif_Art

I enjoy drawing Animals because they do not have any layers such as jewellery or fashion statements, every animal is challenging on it’s own, if I fail to draw an animal perfectly I cannot wrap it with a layer of clothing or distraction, from feathers to furs I have to pay more attention and care to ensure that I can replicate it to my limit.

Comparing that to drawing people or portraits I can always add in a set of jewellery or a jacket to make things easier.

But since it’s a challenge I do enjoy pushing myself more to ensure I can make things better and learn each time.

Q9. @PENUP

We also noticed works with a more abstract feel to them.

What’s the inspiration behind these abstract paintings?

And if there’s a subject you’d like to work with in the future, what would you like to paint?

A9. @Asif_Art

As mentioned before I am a dreamer, sometimes I get ideas while doing work or while going to bed, when I can’t note the idea on a paper or within my tablet, I tend to think about the concept in my head, usually while dreaming about what to draw next, sometimes they change from a normal idea to something else, after all some dreams are scattered and separated, like a shattered mirror you get to see an unclear vision or sometimes they give you a unique feeling, this is how I come up with my versions of abstract paintings.

As of now my paintings can be considered as a single slide as an individual piece, however my wish is to draw an abstract painting that can tell a cohesive story as a whole.

PENUP Hall of Fame

Q10. @PENUP

This is the last question.

Please let us know if there is anything you would like to see improved while using PENUP, or if there is anything you would like to say.

A10. @Asif_Art

I am happy that PENUP team is providing us with new updates, I look forward to seeing more challenging updates in the future which will help our play area even more thrilling.

Thank you PENUP Team and all the community members for your valuable support, I don’t have words to explain how happy I am to be in this place! Looking forward to publish more works and see many creators grow within this platform.

Regards, Asif Nawaz

How was the interview with @Asif_Art?

Instead of traveling abroad, John Constable captured scenes from his day, looked at his surroundings, and turned them into landscapes.

The artist also uses landscapes derived from everyday life to It was showing love for nature.

That’s something we can all do. Take a look around to see what you can observe from your landscape, and try painting or drawing something that conveys the different emotions you feel.

You could focus on the little changes you’ve noticed, the animals, nature, people, or other themes and subjects you feel like painting.

PENUP always hopes to capture the beauty of every little precious moment in life with all of the work our users post on their feeds.

Thank you.
