[Challenge] 2024. July : Let's draw Island

An island is a small patch of land
surrounded by a body of water.

Some islands are large enough to
have lots of people living on them,
whereas others can barely fit
a lighthouse.
There are also uninhabited islands
where no people live on them at all.

You’ll see islands of ice
and wasteland located near the north
and south poles, islands surrounded
by the blue ocean and coral reefs,
and islands buried deep
in the jungle.

Shape-wise, islands can look like
stingrays, dolphins, a heart,
or human eyes.
Imagine a shape,
and you’ll almost always find
an island that looks like it.

Our first challenge for July
is about 'Island,'
a place that can be home to
a diverse ecosystem and organisms.

The Galapagos Archipelago is
renowned for its unique creatures
and ecosystem.

It is home to the ancestors of
many animals we see today, because
the animals evolved in the isolated
environment of an island, they have
unique traits that set them apart
from animals of the same species
in other places.

Also, because the topography
and environment of each island
in the archipelago are different,
the same animal can look different
in Galapagos.

The Galapagos is biologically
crucial as there are many animals
that only exist in the archipelago
and nowhere else.

Islands have a diverse environment
and that’s why people like to spend
their holidays on an island.

Maui, Tahiti, Bali, and Santori are
some examples of islands known as
popular vacation spots.

Each island is charming in its
own way.
They all have beautiful beaches,
mountains, and a unique culture
maintained in an independent
environment.
Millions of people visit every year.

With summer vacation approaching,
it might be a great idea to draw
an island you’d like to visit.

Since most islands are found
in the ocean, they often appear in
all sorts of legends.

The island of Parnassus in Greek
mythology was a mystical island
where the god Apollo, the Muse,
and the prophet used to live.

The island of Chryse was home to
a thriving ancient civilization,
but for some unknown reason,
it sank to the bottom of the sea.
Of course, don’t forget the island
where Noah's Ark was once anchored
and the island where mermaids live.
So many myths and legends have
various islands in them.

What comes to your mind
when you think of an island?

Explore various islands,
from those with diverse environments
and wildlife to places ideal for
a vacation or ones that exist only
in imagination.
Take on the challenge by capturing
many scenes of islands.

This will be proceeded for 15 days.
from July. 1, Mon (GMT)
to July. 15, Mon (GMT).

The challenge is running based
on GMT.

Therefore, the start and end times
differ depending on time zone
of each country, so please refer to
GMT time when uploading your work.

We look forward to your
participation and amazing works!

Thank you.
