[Challenge] 2024. February : Let's draw Money

Money, as a means of buying things,
has existed in various forms
throughout history.

In ancient times, everything from
pretty seashells, to precious stones,
and even animals such as chickens and
cows were used as money.

In the Roman Empire, coins with a
fixed value and paper with the
emperor's seal were used as money,
whereas China used to issue banknotes
made of silk.

So, human beings have made and used
various forms of money, including
wood, special fabrics, and delicate
metal crafts.

The second challenge for February
is all about 'Money,' a medium that
facilitates transactions between
humans.

Various technologies have been
applied to money and currencies to
prevent counterfeiting.

In the West, reserve banks adjust
the metal content in money to produce
special patterns or colors and use
them to combat counterfeiting.

In the East, a unique writing system
was adopted for currencies to help
authenticate money and prevent
counterfeiting.

Recently, a number of different
technologies are being used, such as
printing transparent pictures on
special paper or ink that changes
color depending on the angle.

Of course, a coin or note contains
the history and symbols of the
country it belongs to.

Take the US Dollar for example.
It features the faces of different
presidents and national symbols.
As for the Euro, it contains cultural
elements and architecture from
various countries.

The currency of some Southeast Asian
countries bear images of dancers in
traditional costumes or mystical
gods.

For this month’s challenge,
it could be a fun idea to draw
currencies with a special design
used exclusively in each country.

Meanwhile, the form factor of money
is changing rapidly thanks to
science and technology.

A few touches on your smartphone
let you check how much you have left
in the bank, and people often use
plastic cards instead of coins or
bills.

In addition, new forms of currency,
such as digital currency and virtual
assets, are also appearing on the
market.

What kind of money comes to mind
for you right now?

Take on the challenge of depicting
various currencies, from the money
in your wallet to those from
countries you wish to visit
or with special significance,
in drawings!

This will be proceeded for 14 days.
from February. 16, Fri (GMT)
to February. 29, Thu (GMT).

The challenge is running based
on GMT.

Therefore, the start and end times
differ depending on time zone
of each country, so please refer to
GMT time when uploading your work.

We look forward to your
participation and amazing works!

Thank you.
