  • Hi, PEN.ples~.

There may be nobody who doesn't know '; ', a sign on the keyboard.
    It is the semicolon.
We hardly pay attention to this sign, but it has recently taken a special meaning.

The semicolon is used like 'a sentence ; another sentence'. Writers use it when they don't want to end the context with a single sentence.

A sentence can complete itself on its own, but if it ends with a semicolon its meaning is not complete without a following sentence.
  • The semicolon project: http://www.projectsemicolon.com

‘ The Semicolon Project ‘ was initiated in 2013 as a non-profitable mental health organization, the main objective of which is to present messages of hope and love to those who are struggling with depression, suicide, addiction, and self-injury.

So, the semicolon means that your story still has not ended.
Your best time has not yet come and you should never give up.

PEN.UP has decided to participate in this project.
And we has chosen this as the theme for the August challenge.

You can participate in this challenge by including the semicolon in your pictures or using it in your creative way.

As much as the semicolon tattoo is spreading throughout the world, we hope that at least for August PEN.UP will be full of semicolon drawings so that even after the event many people could know the meaning and participate in the project.

The winners will receive beautiful t-shirts made by a collaboration with the semicolon project.
This gift will be all the more meaningful.
  • As one in heart and mind, we hope you will participate in this challenge.
  • "A semicolon represents a sentence the author could have ended, but chose not to. The sentence is your life and the author is you." - Project Semicolon
