[Challenge] 2026. February : Let's draw Morning
PENUP Main banner

Morning is the time when night and day cross paths, and a new day begins.

As the sun rises, it pushes away the darkness and colors the world in shades of blue, pink, yellow, and more.

Birds and other animals begin their activities, and nature, once quiet, starts to move again.

People wake from sleep and begin preparing for the day, and trains and buses that had been still start running through the streets.

The theme of February’s second challenge is ‘Morning’, a time when change begins.

In the past, morning was considered the moment when the sun rose.

People woke in response to changes in light and temperature, and began gathering food and farming, which is why sunrise defined the morning.

With the invention of clocks, however, the idea of morning shifted from a natural rhythm to a social one, defined by time.

From this point on, morning became strongly associated with preparation, movement, and a sense of busyness.

The many colors of the morning sky are created by the sun and the atmosphere.

As sunlight travels a long distance through the atmosphere, blue light scatters, leaving behind pinks, oranges, and yellows that color the sky and the landscape.

Depending on the thickness and height of the clouds, the intensity and range of these colors can change, and they are reflected or absorbed by the sea, forests, and buildings, transforming once again.

It might be fun to capture the color of morning as you imagine it in your artwork.

Morning is considered a fascinating subject for art.

Because changes in light and color are so dramatic, many artists have chosen to capture morning scenes in their works.

It is also portrayed as a time when labor and daily life begin, a moment that signals change or serves as a turning point.

What kind of morning scene comes to your mind right now?

Starting with the colors of morning, try drawing your own landscapes or imagined scenes and take part in the challenge.

This will be proceeded for 14 days.

From February. 15, Sun. (GMT) to February. 28, Sat. (GMT).

The challenge is running based on GMT.

Therefore, the start and end times differ depending on time zone of each country, so please refer to GMT time when uploading your work.

We look forward to your participation and amazing works!
