A room refers to a space within a building that is divided by walls, a ceiling, and a floor.
From bedrooms where we sleep, to living rooms where we spend time with family, there are also studies where books are stacked or rooms filled with clothes.
There are kitchens where we cook and eat, storage rooms for keeping belongings, and balconies and terraces are also considered types of rooms.
The theme of the second challenge in January is ‘Room’, a space with a designated purpose where people carry out their activities.
Rooms are said to have taken shape as societies transitioned into agricultural life.
In the past, when people lived in caves, life took place in a single shared space, but as people settled down, cooking and sleeping areas began to separate.
Later, the concept of personal space emerged, and as hygiene and individualism spread after the modern era, the independence of rooms became more distinct.
Today, rooms are said to be designed in ways that reflect personal taste through interior design.
Rooms can be decorated in a variety of styles.
From Scandinavian styles using wooden furniture and fabric, to modern styles that combine minimal decoration with black and white, and even vintage styles created using old furniture and objects.
Using traditional houses from different countries, rooms are sometimes decorated with unique materials and ornaments, and designs that harmonize with nature by using eco-friendly materials and plants are also gaining attention.
Drawing the kind of room you would like to create could be an enjoyable experience.
In art, rooms carry a variety of meanings.
They represent a personal world, expressing solitude, contemplation, and identity.
At the same time, they can serve as elements that show daily life or social class, and are also used as spaces to convey psychology, philosophy, memory, and time.
What kind of room comes to mind for you right now?
From spaces you live in in real life, to rooms you wish to design, or various rooms from imagination and stories, draw your own room and take on the challenge.
This will be proceeded for 16 days.
From January. 16, Fri. (GMT) to January. 31, Sat. (GMT).
The challenge is running based on GMT.
Therefore, the start and end times differ depending on time zone of each country, so please refer to GMT time when uploading your work.
We look forward to your participation and amazing works!
