→Go watch now a video of 'December HOF @Goldie'
The Spanish painter Joaquín Sorolla is known for his works that capture the brilliant moments created by sunlight.
He vividly portrayed scenes shaped by waves and pouring sunlight, as well as everyday moments filled with light.
The strong contrasts in his colors bring a sense of liveliness and convey the special emotions that light evokes in dazzling landscapes.
Likewise, the December Hall of Fame artist, @Goldie, presents beautiful landscapes shaped by light.
The artist @Goldie, who paints beautiful landscapes, uploaded her first work to PENUP in June 2020.
During the pandemic, she started using a new Galaxy M21 and was first introduced to PENUP through her husband’s recommendation, uploading a drawing of her children at play as her very first post.
She was surprised by the unexpected likes and warm comments, and encouraged by the support of many artists, she naturally became part of the PENUP community.
She previously used Sketchbook and ArtFlow, but now enjoys her drawing life using the most comfortable and intuitive PENUP on the Galaxy Tab S6 Lite and Galaxy S21 FE.
Now, shall we hear from @Goldie about her works through this interview?
Q1. @PENUP
Hello, @Goldie.
This is the PENUP team.
On behalf of everyone at the PENUP team, we’d like to congratulate you on being inducted into our Hall of Fame in December 2025.
Please briefly introduce yourself and tell us about your thoughts on selection.
A1. @Goldie
Hi, I’m still in a state of disbelief that I got selected for HOF.
It’s surely a pleasant surprise and I would like to thank the entire PENUP team for providing me with this opportunity.
I’m Swarna, a Bengali Indian living in Mumbai for the last 18 years with my family, my hubby and two wonderful kids.
I’m 40 years old and did my master’s in Geography.
I'm a mom to a teenager and an elementary school kid. :)
I’ve been drawing in PENUP for the last 5 years and am full of gratitude for all the love and appreciation I’ve received here.
Q2. @PENUP
We were able to enjoy artworks that captured the beauty of nature.
What made you start drawing?
A2. @Goldie
Drawing has been something I have enjoyed since my early childhood.
My parents and my sister always encouraged me.
Due to my father’s transferable job, we got to live and travel in various beautiful places with lofty mountains, turquoise rivers and emerald tea landscapes.
Nature has been a huge part of my life, and now I live in one of the greenest places, surrounded by nature and greenery, which has inspired me a lot to draw.
The places I’ve drawn are either the places I’ve lived, visited or intend to visit someday.
Q3. @PENUP
We were able to enjoy artworks filled with beautiful landscapes.
We would love to know what draws you to paint landscapes.
We are also curious about what you find most appealing about landscape art.
A3. @Goldie
I feel landscapes are a huge art canvas of the almighty supreme.
Beautiful landscapes evoke our spiritual self.
Drawing landscapes is something I enjoy the most, as it has a calming effect on me; I feel as if I’m meditating.
Sometimes by drawing a landscape I feel I have teleported to these places, which provides an immediate peace.
This is what I love to do in my free time.
Q4. @PENUP
From nature to imagination, we were able to enjoy artworks that expressed light through a rich variety of colors.
We would love to know why you choose to portray light in your work.
If there is a particular meaning you wish to convey through light, we are curious to hear about it as well.
A4. @Goldie
I’m a huge fan of fantasy fiction, and I love to read and watch stories about imaginative worlds.
Since childhood I used to escape to these imaginative worlds, so it was natural for me to draw fragments of these worlds into my paintings.
I often wrote short poems and stories about them, and illustrating them was the only natural thing for me to do.
Some of my illustrations tell a story.
In the underwater world, I drew two scuba divers using modern devices looking at a strange ancient underwater monument, documenting and taking pictures.
They are on the verge of discovering an ancient artifact, but actually it’s a functioning assembly area for the mermaids.
The golden-haired mermaid is hiding herself and is curious to see such peculiar people, but she is scared of them as well.
So it is the POV of both the worlds into each other.
The other green picture with a blue butterfly is a story of ambition.
The tiny little plant is standing on this side of the mountain wondering about the green forest on the other side; it wants to be part of it.
The blue butterfly is the angel of wisdom telling it that all you need is to work hard and believe in yourself, and one day you will create a forest of your own.
Q5. @PENUP
We were also able to see people with various expressions and appearances.
We would love to know why you choose to draw people and what kind of figures you usually portray.
A5. @Goldie
I’m not very good at painting portraits, but seeing some amazing artists in PENUP inspires me and I try to draw faces.
I wish to learn to capture more emotions in my portraits.
So it’s like trial and error for me.
I love to portray emotions and moods, sometimes telling a story.
Q6. @PENUP
Please let us know if there is anything you would like to see improved while using PENUP, or if there is anything you would like to say.
A6. @Goldie
I feel over time PENUP has improved and is continuously updating.
That is a very good thing.
The range of brushes it offers has actually made painting more joyous for me.
This time it introduced perspective suggestions, which I find something I would love to explore more in the future.
In recent times, PENUP has managed AI art well; there are fewer entries by fake artists, and that’s again a relief to see.
How did you enjoy the interview with @Goldie?
This is the artwork the artist said they wanted to share with all PENPLEs.
She said she chose this artwork because she wanted to express freedom of thought, and the scuba diver represents the endless curiosity that drives her.
In addition, the artist left the following message for all PENPLEs.
I would like to use this platform to thank all the amazing artists with whom I was able to connect through PENUP, including @helgi, @Mika, @nuni, @Branka, @Mona, @Dr.Gazi, @Kuas, @sulakshana, @Sarpal, and many other wonderful artists.
This social media platform is unique in its own way.
The way artists support each other, showering love, sharing concerns and talking about various social issues with the language of art, amazes me.
Sitting in my living room, I get to see amazing paintings of artists all around the world — that is the best this platform has to offer.
I love the Colorings, Remixes, Live drawings and collaborations very much.
Sometimes even my kids participate in them.
I would like to thank all the amazing artists who send words of encouragement and sometimes teach me various techniques.
I thank them all here on this platform.
And lastly, once again, thank you to the PENUP team for this honour.
Namaskar with love. 💙💙💙
Goldie
Please continue to support @Goldie and their wonderful works.
Thank you.
