Karl Rungius, known for his realistic paintings, is said to have built a unique world of art through his deep understanding and passion for nature and animals.

Through detailed depictions, contrasting colors, and the harmony of light and shadow, he captured the vivid essence of nature on his canvas.

The dramatic compositions of animals and their surroundings in his works are filled with a fundamental beauty that allows viewers to feel the greatness of nature.

Likewise, the November Hall of Fame artist, @Fishtank, captures moments of nature in his paintings, revealing the hidden beauty within them.

The artist @Fishtank, who paints beautiful landscapes, uploaded their first artwork to PENUP in August 2021.

After purchasing a new Tab S7, they happened to discover PENUP by chance.

While enjoying coloring, they naturally began to experiment with different techniques, improved their skills, and eventually gained the confidence to start uploading their own drawings.

They mentioned that they truly love the smooth drawing experience of PENUP, and that they create their works using only the Tab S7 and the PENUP app.

After work, they often relax by drawing with PENUP almost every day.

Now, shall we hear from @Fishtank about their works through this interview?

Q1. @PENUP

Hello, @Fishtank.

This is the PENUP team.

On behalf of everyone at the PENUP team, we’d like to congratulate you on being inducted into our Hall of Fame in November 2025.

Please briefly introduce yourself and tell us about your thoughts on selection.

A1. @Fishtank

I live on the beautiful island of Tasmania, Australia and most of my inspiration comes from my surrounds.

For example, about 12 months ago I decided to only draw flowers which are native to Tasmania and all my seascapes are special places to me in Tasmania.

I try to capture the power and beauty of nature and its ability to constantly change.

I feel very honored to be in the HOF and it was a lovely surprise.

Q2. @PENUP

We were able to see artworks that captured the realistic beauty of nature.

What made you start drawing?

A2. @Fishtank

I was just experimenting and playing with the PENUP app.

So it just kind of happened, rather than being a conscious decision to start drawing.

Then the subjects I chose were the things I love most in life.

For example, the fine detail of a petal or leaf amazes me.

Nature is so clever.

Q3. @PENUP

The various landscapes of nature, including the sea, left a strong impression.

We would like to know what inspires you to paint landscapes.

What do you think is the charm of landscapes?

A3. @Fishtank

I grew up swimming in the sea and I feel the sea is part of me.

In a way, I am just drawing an extension of me when I draw a seascape.

I think landscapes invite us to look beyond ourselves and our busy lives.

It is important to stop and look around and be part of the environment, something bigger that holds mysteries.

Perhaps this is why landscapes can be so powerful.

Q4. @PENUP

There were also many artworks featuring various animals, including dogs.

We would like to know why you choose animals as your subject.

We are also curious about what you think makes animals fascinating as a theme.

A4. @Fishtank

I love dogs!

They are loyal and love unconditionally.

My other favorite animal subjects are native Tasmanian animals, like the Tasmanian Devil seen above.

I believe strongly in protecting the special animals in Tasmania because of the extinction of the Thylacine (Tasmanian Tiger).

If my drawings inspire others to care for native animals and prevent another extinction disaster, then I am happy.

Q5. @PENUP

We could see flowers with beautiful colors and various kinds of plants.

We would like to know what inspires you to create artworks on these themes.

Also, if there is a meaning you wish to convey through the elements of nature, we would love to hear about it.

A5. @Fishtank

Plants are another thing I love in life.

There is nothing better than going on a bushwalk and finding a special little delicate flower you would never see otherwise.

I think what I try to say with my work is to look for the special things around you and look after them, whether they are plants, animals or a beautiful beach.

Q6. @PENUP

Please let us know if there is anything you would like to see improved while using PENUP, or if there is anything you would like to say.

A6. @Fishtank

PENUP is always working to improve the app.

So I trust in you.

How did you enjoy the interview with @Fishtank?

This is the artwork the artist said they wanted to share with all PENPLEs.

They chose this piece because they especially love the interaction between the water and the swans.

In addition, the artist left the following message for all PENPLEs.

Draw what you truly love and don’t worry about what others think, and you will truly enjoy creating.

I hadn’t drawn since high school, but thanks to PENUP, I found the joy of expressing what I love through art again.

As I got better, I thought there would be no harm in posting my work, and when I look back, I can see how I have evolved.

That’s why I encourage everyone to share their works and grow through the experience.

Please continue to support @Fishtank and their wonderful works.

Thank you.
